The Kaduna basic education accountability mechanism was launched yesterday. It is part of efforts to open up the education sector to the public to ensure transparency and accountability for improved quality of service in the sector. The launch which also served as an Interactive Forum to review performance on Education Sector in the last 3 years was anchored by Kaduna Basic Education Accountability Mechanism (KADBEAM ) (a team comprising representatives of CSOs working in the education sector, MOE, SUBEB,PTA, SBMC, education agencies) was supported by DFID-funded Partnership to Reform , Engage and Learn (PERL ).

KADBEAM is a school based accountability mechanism to improve the education sector.It is a partnership platform for the government and citizens to work together towards ensuring quality in basic education .The main goal of KADBEAM is to bridge the gap between the public and government and educate them on what the government is doing in the sector, with particular attention on basic education. This accountability mechanism is designed to ensure transparency in the education sector where the citizens are carried along in the design and implementation of government programmes in the sector.
