Position Overview
The Programme Officer (Education and Life Skills) will be responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring education and life skills programs in Maiduguri. The officer will work closely with programme Manager, other key staff, schools, communities, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive, gender-sensitive education and life skills programs, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and strategies.
- Collaborate with schools, communities, and other partners to design and deliver impactful programs that address the specific needs and challenges faced by target groups.
- Conduct needs assessments and gap analyses in Maiduguri to inform program design and development.
- Organize and facilitate training sessions, workshops, and events in Maiduguri on a range of topics, including but not limited to leadership, reproductive health, financial literacy, and gender equality.
- Work with M&E officers to monitor and evaluate program activities and outcomes in Maiduguri, using data-driven approaches to assess impact and identify areas for improvement.
- Prepare high-quality reports, including progress reports, donor reports, and case studies, to demonstrate the impact of our programs in Maiduguri and ensure accountability to stakeholders.
- Stay abreast of developments in education, gender equality, and youth development in Maiduguri to ensure that our programs remain relevant and effective.
- Support the integration of monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) frameworks into program design and implementation in Maiduguri, ensuring that data is used to inform decision-making and improve program quality.
- Provide technical assistance and capacity-building support to staff, partners, and beneficiaries in Maiduguri to enhance their knowledge and skills in education and life skills programming.
- Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures, including those related to child protection, gender equality, and ethical standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, Gender Studies, or a related field. Master's degree preferred, PGDM, MBA will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating education or youth development programs, preferably with a focus on gender and/or girls' empowerment. preferably in an NGO or humanitarian actor.
- Strong understanding of issues related to girls' education, life skills, and empowerment.
- Demonstrated experience in project management, including budgeting, planning, and monitoring.
- Experience working with school-aged girls in safe spaces or similar settings, providing life skills training and support.
Skills
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and networking skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Proven ability to think strategically, analyze complex issues, and develop innovative solutions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other relevant software applications.
- Excellent writing, editing and communications skills in English required;
- Works collaboratively with colleagues to achieve organisational goals;
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of local languages is highly desirable;.
